The essential distinction
Similar conversations do not mean identical medicines.
Semaglutide and liraglutide are GLP-1 receptor agonists. Tirzepatide acts on GIP and GLP-1 receptors. They differ in evidence, dosing schedules, product information, restrictions and how a clinician may monitor treatment.
Brand names are especially easy to confuse: the same active ingredient may appear in products authorised for different conditions. Ask the prescriber to write down the active ingredient, product name, indication and plan.
